Laying the First Step Towards Language Mastery

At International Phonics Olympiads (IPO), we introduce children to the joy of sounds and Words and different objects through interactive brainstorming questions. The Nursery syllabus focuses on developing early listening, sound recognition, and vocabulary-building skills — essential foundations for strong verbal reasoning and future reading success.

Topics Covered in Nursery:

Section-A

Recognizing and differentiating alphabets and their respective sounds

  • Complete the alphabet series.
  • Complete the pictorial series.
  • Complete the pictorial sequence.
Section-B

Recognizing initial, middle and final letter sounds

  • Identify the initial letter in upper case format.
  • Identify the shadow to the letter.
  • Identify the letter and pick-out its object.
Section-C

Identifying letters A–Z with their corresponding objects

  • Pick out the correct letter of curve.
  • Pick out the correct letter of lines.
  • Pick out the correct form of the letter.
Section-D

Matching objects or pictures with their beginning sounds to strengthen sound-symbol connection

  • Tick the letter odd one out.
  • Tick the letter of the object.
  • Tick the object to the letter.

  • The above topics are carefully curated as per the child's grade level, keeping in mind age-appropriate learning goals.
  • All topics are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting foundational literacy and competency-based learning.
  • The Olympiad aims to enhance phonics, grammar, and language comprehension through structured, grade-specific content.
  • The actual detailed syllabus will be shared with parents at the time of registration, tailored level-wise for each participant.
