Competition Details

How is the offline examination conducted?
The offline examination is conducted in a simple and child-friendly format. Teachers or examiners guide students through the instructions, and children respond through ticking, circling, matching, identifying, reading, or writing answers according to their grade level.
What is the duration of the examination?
The examination duration is *60 minutes*. The assessment is carefully designed to suit the attention span and comfort level of students from Nursery to Grade 3.
When are the examination results declared?
Results are generally declared within *25 working days* after the completion of the examination process.
Are the examinations difficult for beginners?
No. IPO examinations are designed to encourage students at every learning stage. Beginners receive age-appropriate concept-based questions, while advanced learners are challenged through higher-level reading, verbal aptitude, comprehension, and logical thinking activities.

Registration & Preparation

Will students receive certificates or awards?
Yes. All students participating in the International Phonics Olympiad receive recognition based on their performance in the examination. Example Award Structure (Out of 50 Marks):
  • Rank 1 – 50 Marks: Trophy + Certificate
  • Rank 2 – 49 Marks: Trophy + Certificate
  • Rank 3 – 48 Marks: Trophy + Certificate
  • Merit Rank – 47 to 26 Marks: Medal + Certificate
  • Participants – 25 Marks & Below: Participation Certificate
Students achieving Merit Rank or Rank Holder positions qualify for the next level of the Olympiad.Students receiving Participation Certificates are encouraged to continue improving their skills and may reappear in future examinations; however, they do not qualify for the next level.
How many levels are conducted in the Olympiad?
The International Phonics Olympiad is generally conducted across 4 levels
  • School Level – Approx. August
  • Interschool Level – Approx. November
  • State Level – Approx. February
  • National Level – Approx. April
These are approximate examination periods. Final examination dates are officially declared by the respective schools, institutes, or authorised centres.
